Course Description: Fundamentals of Art & Design is a high school course designed to give students a better understanding of the Elements & Principles of Art & Design. This course will introduce and explore essential art, art history, aesthetics, production and analysis required for creating and understanding a variety of art forms.
Textbook: There isn’t a textbook for this course. Students are encouraged to use the Internet, books and magazines in the classroom and library as resources.
Materials Fee: There is a materials fee of $25.00 associated with this course that can be paid through Pay Schools. The materials fee is due by the end of the second week of class. This fee helps to provide all the necessary supplies and loan of basic tools to complete all objectives for each art project and enables students to take art home. Students, who use additional supplies, lose or misuse tools will be charged for replacement.
Course Expectations:
• Be where you belong: in class before the bell rings and at the appropriate work stations during class.
• Come to class prepared.
• Communicate courteously and behave responsibly.
• Class participation is essential to success in this studio class. Failure to participate in class- doing anything other than working on art assignments during class time- will result in a lower grade.
• Use of cell phones in class only with permission from Mrs. Buchanan.
• Use all tools and materials safely and properly.
• Students are responsible for clean up each day.
• Students must present a Virtual Art Portfolio and be present during the scheduled exam to receive a passing final exam grade.
